Vote in the Tubeys now. MY GOD, the site is sloooow. But voting's fun and I'm bored, so. I think voting for the 1st round ends tomorrow noon.
My votes )

Oh, The Killers are going to be on the Sundance Channel tomorrow night at 10 pm ET.

I can't wait till I can vote for "(Nip/Tuck) Christian dreams that he and Sean are a couple" in the Best HoYay! Moment category of the Tubey Awards on TWOP. *checks mailbox for Season 4 DVDs*

And, I don't watch Ugly Betty, but I love this One-Liner: "You will be my seeing-eye gay." (Wilhelmina, Ugly Betty) HAHAHAHA. I could use one of those, to help me decorate my living room.
vertigo66: (Brokeback Mountain - Alone)
I wish I were surprised by this news. I feel sorriest for poor little Matilda.

Buh-bye Alberto. But I'm sure we'll get someone just as worthy for your replacement.

Although apparently he doesn't recall resigning. HA.
vertigo66: (Tortola)
Since we have a little more money now that I'm working, we'll be able to take a nice big trip once in a while. I'm hoping to be able to take a two-week trip next summer, but I'm not sure where we should go. I'm still afraid of flying (we haven't been on a plane since August, 2001) which I know rationally is ridiculous. But anyway, vote in my poll and tell us where we should go! My kids will be 8 and almost 12 next summer, and I don't like the heat. We're also not big on theme-park type things but I wouldn't rule them out completely; we do like pretty scenery and beaches and water. Oh, our starting point is Maryland. Comments welcomed.

vertigo66: (Spongebob friends forever)
Vote for the best Simpsons character ever. This is gonna be hard, but I think I'm going to root for Mr. Burns. Excellent.
vertigo66: (Harry Potter)
Harry Potter: migraine sufferer. So Voldemort causes migraines. It all makes sense now.
vertigo66: (The O.C. - Ryan and Seth)
Okay, I just started watching Traveler. Why didn't anyone tell me one of the guys played Ryan's brother Trey on The O.C.?! I love that guy!

I thought this was funny:
"I’ve learned one thing in listening to all the debates and reading about all these people running for office, and the one fact I’ve learned, I can’t get out of my mind, is that Rudy Giuliani has been married more times than Mitt Romney’s been hunting."

-- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), quoted by the New York Times.

vertigo66: (Smallville - Tom Welling)
Oh, dear (Smallville spoiler about a new character being introduced next season). I'm not sure how I feel about this. At first glance, it seems REALLY cheesy. But we'll see...

And here's an article on "Netflix Guilt." I solved my Netflix Guilt by going to the 2 movies/month plan. I can definitely manage to watch two movies most months, so there's no guilt that I'm wasting money. Each movie ends up costing me $2.50 to rent.

OH NOES, Jake Gyllenhaal spotted sleeping. *is jealous*

Well, my TV season is done and gone (except I may tune into Hidden Palms and continue watching Rescue Me even though it was really weird last season), but I just caught this article on things we'll miss about The O.C.. Yeah, it's a few months too late, but I still miss it.

Pandagon looks at an ABC article that discusses the FDA approval of the new oral contraceptive, which stops periods. These are actual quotes from the article:
It’s unclear whether women will embrace this new pill, which contains the same formulations of estrogen and progestin used for birth control pills for decades, but its arrival marks yet another step toward the blurring of the genders.
WTF? So the only thing that makes a woman a woman is that she has periods. I'm sure all the post-menopausal women out there are happy to hear that.
As 21st century women dominate the universities and continue to climb the executive ladder, and metro-sexual men explore their feminine side, it’s harder to define what it means to be a woman.
OMFG. "Before it was so easy to tell who was a woman--they were the ones barefoot and pregnant. But now that they have jobs and rights and stuff, it's just so hard!" *pukes* Let's not forget this gem:
Lybrel, manufactured by Wyeth, stops the growth of the uterus, sending it into hibernation.
Because if you don't take this pill the uterus keeps growing until it takes over the woman's entire body. (Seriously, maybe the person writing this article should do a little research on how a menstrual cycle actually happens.)
But it is menstruation that has historically set women apart from men.
Nah, it's that women don't have penises, silly. :P
vertigo66: (Veronica Mars Friends)
I don't have much to say about the end of Veronica Mars. Though it's sad that it didn't find the audience it needed, maybe it's just as well, though I do feel bad for the people who wanted it to continue. I think I would've grown to dislike it eventually, even though I pretty much love every single character on the show. Because we all KNOW Rob Thomas would insist on putting Veronica and Logan back together and the finale pretty much showed me (again) that they are bad for one another. Read more... )

We'll never know what happens, but that's okay. I think I'm better off imagining the future I want for Veronica rather than Rob Thomas's, though I will very much miss the amazing dialog and one-liners this show gave us. "This wetsuit is like a cheap motel--no ballroom." Heh.
vertigo66: (Nip/Tuck - Adorable)
These e-cards are so funny! (Some messages not work/kid safe.)

Gay flamingos pick up chick. The amazing thing to me is that the birds have been together for six years. I'm sure that's longer than any of Rush Limbaugh's relationships have lasted.

Fall TV

vertigo66: (The O.C. - Ryan and Seth)
I checked out some previews for Josh Schwartz's new fall shows today.

Gossip Girl looks like it could be a fun teen soap, but I didn't see a lot of humor in this preview. Hopefully the show will have the Schwartz ironic humor touch. It's nice hearing Kristen Bell's voice, though.

The previews for Chuck look very funny, more like what I'd expect from Josh Schwartz, but the Chuck character reminds me so much of Seth Cohen. Actually, that's a good thing, too bad they didn't get Adam Brody to play him! *misses*

I'll watch both in the fall--it'll be interesting to see which of the shows survives. If I had to pick one, it would be GG since the CW tends to stick with shows longer than the big three networks, especially teen soaps (look at One Tree Hill). One thing's probably sure: the soundtracks to both of the shows will be awesome.
vertigo66: (Smallville - Clark/Chloe)
Smallville, last night's plus speculation )

Scrubs )

I'll have something to say about Supernatural after I watch the rest of it tonight.

vertigo66: (Smallville - Clark/Chloe)
Spoilers for tonight's Smallville. I'm actually excited about the finale. I know this will probably get me booted off some f-lists, but I'm more excited about tonight's SV than I am about tonight's SPN.
